Our Story
The Parkinson's Exercise and Wellness Center (PEWC) is your partner in the fight against Parkinson’s Disease (PD). Founded as “Rock Steady Boxing: In Your Corner” in 2016, our work has grown and guided us toward a clearer path of helping those with Parkinson’s Disease. In 2019, we became the Parkinson’s Exercise and Wellness Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization led by a board of certified trainers and members with Parkinson’s Disease.
The PEWC is the first facility of its kind in the Kansas City area to dedicate all of its resources and time to fighting Parkinson’s Disease. We do this through targeted exercise programs and a supportive community of donors, caregivers and PD fighters.
What is the impact of Parkinson’s Disease?
Parkinson's Disease and Parkinson's Plus affects all aspects of physical, mental, and emotional life. The Parkinson’s Foundation estimates there are more than one million people in the United States living with Parkinson’s Disease, and more than 60,000 people are diagnosed each year. With so many affected, the urgency of meeting this community’s needs is extreme. This means our work is critical and our impact real.
What do we offer you?
